Two Scientists Awarded Nobel Prize in Medicine 2024
American Researchers Honored for Groundbreaking Work on MicroRNA and Gene Regulation
The announcement of the prestigious Nobel Prizes 2024 began on Monday. Today, two American doctors, Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun, have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their exceptional research.
The Nobel committee in Sweden announced that the duo was selected for their pioneering work in discovering microRNA, a fundamental component in regulating gene activity post-transcription. This research has vast implications for understanding genetic processes. So far, 227 individuals have received the Nobel Prize in Medicine. The awards will be presented on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death, along with a prize of one million dollars.
